Originally from Brazil, Italo graduated from Faculdades Nordeste S.A. (Fanor) with a degree in Architecture. As a licensed Architect in Brazil, he ran his own small firm pursuing residential architecture and interior design. Italo brings more than 15 years of experience in residential design and architecture to his role at Selkirk Design Company. He holds a truly global view of architecture and its potential as a positive influence on every life. As a mentor to staff, he demonstrates how architecture creates community and design becomes an influential ambassador. An avid soccer fan, he loves the sport because “the running never stops.” He also enjoys perfecting his swing on the local golf courses of Northern Idaho, relaxing and clearing his mind.

Tom's love for building at an early age was a good indication that design and architecture would be in his future. Graduating from Portland State University with a BA in Architecture, he also embraced wood and metal fabrication that emphasizes hands-on exploration of materials. This experience shaped his architectural ethos, prioritizing materials, community engagement and social impact in his design.
Tom is laid back in his demeanor which allows everyone involved to be very comfortable in being able to talk through their vision and goals. Through spatial optimization, functionality, and effective communication, he creates an atmosphere where the focus and design philosophy center around the client. He moved to Sandpoint looking for a change of scenery and to be near family. When he is away from the office, you can find him competing on the disc golf course.
